Making the Best of Things

P9230006.JPG

Well this past weekend was full of surprises. Considering i was on drugs and not feeling the best i decided to give the DH a try. As you know i sported the mullet wig, skinsuit, pink aviators and the trusty scalpel. Well i know i didn't do too bad even with a broken spoke. I mean i know for a fact Fox couldn't have hung with me. Anywayz.... We woke up to torrential downpour. It just kept raining and raining and within two hours of waking up the cross country race was cancelled. Bummer. However we did manage to make a trip to Bread....MMMMmmmmmm... That place rocks, no wonder everyone goes there. Jason gave me the name of Rob, the main man at Bread. he totally hooked me up with a hat, stickers, a turkey sandwich, cookie, ham stuffed something and other wonderful goodness. Thanks to very hospital people we were able to stay Friday night in a mansion of a home up near coal bank, it kicked ass.
So after a great breakfast it was time to start heading back. Some of us were making good time and well......others were just casualties of the game.....Danae might have gotten a ticket but we were pretty surprised she didn't have her license taken away.

On the way back we stopped and rode Kenosha Pass. This is the second time i have ridden here and it only gets better. This time it was chilly with the aspens in full color change. It was absolutely perfect.

This weekend was definitely all about making the best of things. I dont think i have laughed so much in one weekend than this past one. While the 14 hrs of driving were not necessarily worth the $20 and 4 minutes of cyclocross DH'ing i did, it was definitely worth the time spent with friends. Hopefully next weekend i can actually have a race. Mid terms are now over and well.... hopefully things will settle back down....oh yea, maybe ill ride my bike. J-dog and BArt have been tearing it up on the cross scene. Oh yea, one other thing.....it rained ALL day here, i think this is the first day in my life that it actually rained all day. crazee yo.

Daily Happenings

Last Tuesday was one of the best days in recent memory. I saw one of my favorite bands, MUSE at Red Rocks with both news and old friends. The night was a blast. The sky was perfectly clear, and the show was beyond anything i had imagined.

The amount of energy and power displayed at the concert was insane. I swear if they lit up every light on the stage you could see it from space.

Im glad i was able to spend the night with such good friends, it made the concert that much more enjoyable, even if they didnt know the words.

So in new developing stories... Blake is DOPED! yea i got on the good stuff. I hate being sick.

So today I am writing from Alpine Inn in Durango. An upgrade from the ritz we stayed at last year. Instead of getting my A$$ kicked in STXC i raced Mens B DH, on the scalpel.......in a skinsuit.....with a mullet wig and aviators. Yea, i pretty much rocked out. I managed to pop my spoke and ride a very untrue wheel down. I dont know how i did but i dont think too bad. Bryan held his own in the STXC and managed to get 2nd despite getting brake checked by the FLC armada. Tomorrow is XC, we will see. Im still on drugs, hopefully i can pull something together.

Taking Up Slack

Well I'm back. I was on vacation, then came back to school, then school really started, then i realized i had to do things for school and then I got sick. Whammy! Yea it hit me big. However, in the circle of friends, and in this case those friends with blogs, there is always someone taking up the slack for others. Primetime has been "on it" for some time now. While i didnt update for almost a month he has his funny shiznit everyday. Well, now im back and he is on "Sabbatical", so i guess its my turn. Since the Purto Rico trip has been published on Multiple Blogs, Ill spare you my whole story.

I will say that racing in PR was a blast though. Much of the racing part was spent in a dorm like setting learning bad words from Puerto Riccans.

I had some of my best racing in PR despite riding in torrential downpours.

After racing, the parents came into town. Then we all headed to Viequez, an isalnd off the coast of PR. Ill just photo dump now.

Last weekend was the first collegiate race of the season.

STXC wasn't the greatest. Pure Power. 3 People crashed in front of me at 3 different times, so needless to say i didnt catch "the train", not that i would have, but riding by myself sucked. Bryan aka pure power, held his own against FLC's 8 guys, yea count'em. finishing a solid 4th. way to go. Kiel got 10th despite the fact he's ridden a mtn bike like 4 times in his life. The XC was awesome. The course was hard and technical. I was riding very well, top ten. As i was bombing the decent all of the sudden i see two FLC guys, the leaders coming right at me. "Your going the wrong way!" "No, your going the wrong way!". "WTF"...."F". And that was that. 30 mins later we found our way to the start finish where the people behind us had found their way to the finish. According to the results there were 9 finishers and the rest DNF's. So that was a bumber, especially since i was racing super well, on the course that suits me the most and this is the second year in a row that CSU has blown it. Oh well. Despite the race being pretty much a failure, camping was a blast! The iphone as sad as it is provided us with probably 5 hrs of pure entertainment and laughter. THIS takes the cake. And THIS a close second.

After Racing i started to get sick. Today is the 6th day of sickness, i think im on the mend. Maybe ill race this weekends XC, maybe not. Sorry for the lack of updates, hopefully its back on track from now on. In the meantime enjoy.
