Damn Dorms
Well, last night after studying for about 4 hrs i decided it was time to eat and go to bed. Well I ate and then went to bed. I didn't fall asleep till later though due to the frat party occuring in the room next door. I woke up this morning with a really bad sore throat. I have a mid term today and am also supposed to go to Durango today. Well it looks like this weekend has been shot. I dont see how driving 13hrs and racing in the snow i A: going to help me get better and B: help me study for my 2nd or 3 mid terms this coming week. I did have a fun mountain bike ride yesterday but that has kind of slipped my mind. Ok well time to study....take meds and sleep.
Hope everyone is having a better time than i am.

Slackin
So the last time i posted i was saying how i was going to Parker for the road race. well.......that didn't go so well. I felt great, bike was all set to go and the field took off. I was around top 10 the whole time until my "incident". The course consisted of many rollers. It really reminded me of the T-day nighter back in A-Town. Everything was going fine until we hit the back side of the course. 55mph cross winds were insane! We the echeloned across the road. I had was i thought was the best seat in the house with a 6ft 200lb guy blocking for me. I mean no wind was hitting me where i was. However when someone attacked the cut over to the side that everyone was echeloned across, this cause everyone getting on his wheel to move over. Well sure enough that awesome draft i had started moving over.....and over...and over.....and now im in the ditch. I mean ditch. This was a mini gully. We were going pretty fast but somehow i managed to keep myself upright, my bike on the other hand took a little tumble. I got myself back on the road and chased, teetering about 50 yards behind. The winds got the best of me and i couldn't get back on. Riding back to the car i was pretty pissed. Entry fee, drive time, money ll down the drain. I get home and i have a flat on my tubi as well. great!
Well i redeemed myself to some degree by getting up at 5:30 with Bryan to go to the mtn bike race in nomans land. On the way there we went through Fairplay to see a temperature of 22 degrees! we raced in 47 degree weather, it warmed up a significant amount but was still cold. First lap was pretty interesting. Ft. Lewis guys put something like 12 guys in the mens A race and started it by putting 8 of them in a train for the start. They throttled it and i was hanging on alright until my nose started running real bad. I mean i thought i had a lot of snot coming out! That was until i looked down to see red droplets falling at record pace from my nose. i stopped at the feed zone now almost dead last to plug my nose up. I finished the race 16th out of something like 35 or so from what im told. Alright but id like to think i could have gotten top ten again. It was good to see noah again, the whole ft. L team were pretty dominant this race but Bryan hung in there to represent with a 4th place. After the race the team ate and me and Bryan got our Buck Hunter Pro on. that game rocks!
Well sry no pics but i got kinda lazy. Ill post something fun soon.
holla.

Hitting the Dirt
This week i went on one of the most awesome rides I have done thus far during my time in Boulder. Wink would be proud of me. This ride consisted of going up canyon to four mile.

However the real fun didnt start until...

The 2.5 of the 3hr ride was spent climbing on dirt roads. The Dirt was mostly smooth comeplete with interesting quaint little towns and awesome views.

Heres summerville, pop. mmmmmm im gonna go with 40, nah, make it 25:

The ride continued up switchbacks which were interesting on a road rig, but we made it. The dirt was smooth past summerville:

And we actually saw someone riding out in the boon docks (sp?). Of course he was riding a mtn bike:

After climbing up the road to the left we made it to our detination.

Gold Hill!:

This town reminds me of an old western. I kinda felt like i was here for a dual. the ride was changed for the better here. A local said that the proposed rout had just been grated and was crappy. sooooo, a new rout was recommended and we (Me and Matt) took off. However i was out of agua and stoped at the local general store:

The guy inside was super nice and opened a new galon of water for me at no charge. Thanks!

After that it was time to hit the road again. It was all climbing until a small descent down to ward at 9,300ft.

Pavement!!!

So once we were in Ward we started to descend down to Boulder but i just couldnt pass up this place:

Once again the small little towns deliver:

This made the ride a complete success! The ride down was fast, fun, a little cold but rewarding. I cant wait to really figure out the mountain biking is all about.
Yesterday was the cycling team "social". BBQ, friends, bikes and good times were all in attendance at Bryans house.

Sunshine and Shep had their game faces on:

Bamma had his century ride out. And im not joking, this guys does 100 milers on this bad boy!

Things started to get a little crazy when sunshine started telling stories about his fighting invisible dragons.

Coach taught us how to carbo load more effiently.

The night really got going when Gamma Phi showed up :)

Id say the social was more than a success. Thanks Bryan for hosting and making some mean hamburgers!
Parker is tomorrow and im a little skeptical but im gonna give it my all. Wish me luck!

Damage Control
Ok so parts of this weekend went really well, others....well, not so well. We hit off the weekend by going to the CU vs. CSU game at Invesco field in Denver. It was pretty crazy. FYI this is prob the biggest game of the year for CU and CSU fans, not so much the teams but the fans are insane. The stadium was pretty full with Green and White on one side while the other side was Black and Gold.

The Crowd was somewhat wild, ok real wild. Probably from the pregame festivities:

Well midway through the game I get a phone call from non other than Davis. Through 5 minutes of incoherent exchanges I figured that Davis was in a bit of a pickle. He had partied to his desire and was now in the presence of Denver's finest. "I need you to pick me up". Well being the good guy that I am I went from level 1 to level 5 and across the stadium to rescue Davis. Davis has probably felt better as we all found out after his immediate trip to the restroom.

I asked Davis how his weekend had gone thus far, his response was priceless.

We had to leave the game early b/c well...Davis really needed to get home. While we were on Davis's walk of Shame:

However, despite our football team losing and having what appears to be having a bad start to a bad season I was able to salvage a victory.

No doubt Davis was having a hard time getting home, but we got him home safe and sound.

Next on the list was heading to Fort Collins to spend the night before the first XC race of the season. Once there the second bad blow of the day hit. Texas lost to Ohio State! Say it aint so!!!!!!!!! oh well this weekends football was a kick to the nuts. After a good nights sleep Danae and I drove to Beaver Meadows for the XC. It was cold on the way and cold for the start however the area was really nice.

Once on the start line it was great to see so many people from the norba's. Dustin, Trevor, Collin and so many more. There were something like 40 starters for the Mens A race. I was relieved that the start wasn't as insane as a norba however. Collin however drilled it and soon made a separation. From what I hear he had a good gap the entire race. The race was LONG! 32 miles. Not flat. Techi for sure. PAIN..... However I had a great race for me. I started around 25 or so and passed people every lap and ended up with a top ten!!!! yay.
After the race the team went to Pot belly for some grub. Everyone killed it. That was a lot of food for a lot of people. Congrats to Brian for pulling off a podi this weekend. 3rd! way to go.

Brian givin his victory speech, well not really but I don't have a caption for this one.

Danae put up with me on the drive home as I gave her crap for her Southern Californian driving habits. i.e. racing.
Thanks Danae!

This upcoming weekend I might be doing the NRC omnium in Parker. I don't know I might not have time, bed bath and beyond who knows. Anyway that's about it.

Just Chillin
wassap fan club.
So nothing big to report. The other day I rode with Danae and Bryan (CU cycling team) up flagstaff. Of course Boulder being what Boulder is Bryan flexed on me time and again during mid conversation. I popped like a cheap balloon after Bryan full on attacked me. Welcome to CU!

I'm hoping the rest of the season wont be everyone flexing on the new guy but hey that might make me faster?
Anyway after our "ride" a group of us decided to go meet up for the Thursday Happy/Cruiser Ride. Usually this consists of about 400 people riding around Boulder and causing mass chaos. Sounds fun right? Well due to the cloudy skies or something, only ten or so people showed up from what I can gather. I'm not sure what really happened but were ended up going to chill at Brian's house. We did some socializing and then started our own night ride to Hapa Grill. This place had some mean sushi! We had a super good time! Especially Randy who put his game face on for the feasting.

And by the way Craig (left in the last pic) was the one wasted, Davis (right) was sober as a judge. Funny no?
Well that's about all to report. I've been doing some homework since ill be busy racing and watching football games this weekend. Ill try to report soon but I'm thinking it wont be until Monday. Everyone have a great weekend. GO CU whoop CSU's A$$!!!!!!!!

Fun day!!!!!!!
Hello fan club!
well today was a fun day!!!!! Well it started off with a massive uh,ehhh headache due to the celebration of Davis's birfday! It was fun and all but I didn't feel like going to class this morning.

Happy Birthday Davis!!!!!!
Well after attending class which was all I can really say I did, I was coaxed into a ride. I wasn't feeling it at first but soon was happy that it happened. Not just because all riding here in Boulder is awesome but it was my first trip out on old faithfull.

Braaaaaaaaap!
It wasn't the greatest trail but it was local and was great for the occasion. Great views and the usual climbing were consistent on the day.

Danae, besides trying to flex on me all day, decided to get her photo on as well.

The next event on the days schedule was eating with the man of mystery.

We shot the shit and talked about Brian's adventures at gateway. We parted ways after eating some quesadillers and headed off to meet Danae's friends. Now they were nice and everything but I couldn't help but laugh when I saw three of them trying to figure out how to put a bike on the roof rack.

Then we had a real treat. Glacier Ice!!!!!!! The best ice cream ever! My RA (resident hall advisor) Dustin was working. Dustin and Tobin get'r done!!!

Thanks D and T fo the float!
Alright until next time. blake-out

Learning the ropes
Well I haven't updated in awhile and I apologize for that, however I have some fun things to report. First I took my hiatus due to a 24 nasty bug that really felt like the flue for sure. However, after taking slamming meds as if my life depended upon it and 13 hrs of sleep later I couldn't have felt better. I still think that it was the flue and I caught it early. Sooo after that it was time to get back on schedule. Next I believe was taking Danae up flagstaff. She was a bit struck by the altitude, coming from new Zealand and all but she still tried to sprint me a few times. Now this ride we both figured out something. If you are going to climb into the mountains where there is any fog whatsoever then bring gloves and whatever else out of your Antarctic gear you have because it was miserable coming down. I had the speed wobbles just due to my uncontrollable shaking. I had frost on my eyebrows and eye lashes along with my shins. I lost feeling in my hands and could hardly break. Now if you think this is the end of my whining tale its not, that came after 15 min of shivering under my blankets after I got back. Damn that was cold!
Next on the agenda was the CU football game!

we lost. Even worse to a 2A school that we shoulda whooped their ass's!!!!! GGGGRRRRRRRRRRR. But anyway it was fun as hell. I believe CU has the most brutal fans, well maybe not but pretty close. Besides the CU fight song, all the cheers seem to be along the lines of ef them up or we effing hate MSU!!!!! And when I say these were the cheers I mean it, everyone and their grandmother were singing along. I bet the boy scouts were too. Hopefully our team will shape up as the year really gets going.
The night after the game was fun but the next real adventure came today. I decided the redeem myself from the previous days festivities so I went on a killer ride recommended by da man . It was fun!!! Killer climbs, awesome scenery, nice people along the way and one hell of a workout. Ill finish my blurb today with pics from my ride today. Sure not in Austin anymore, no offense of course.

well, i know the pictures might be getting to be a little much but i just cant seem to get enough.
