Well yesterday was a pretty intense daay for me. I had to get up early to go ride and then go to classes, then i had to make a trip to BB and B with Danae who let me tell you is a very methhodical shopper.

While it was a pain to get up I met up with my local sherpa to show me some more new roads. He showed me flagstaff today which was a really nice climb.

Getting to the top was hard for me because of the ride i did yesterday wbut im pretty sure it was worth it.

First day of class

Well today was my first day of classes. They actually rocked. My only two classes that i have on Monday's, Wednsday's and Friday's consist of 24 and 20 people! Note this is an E1 research university!!!! WTF? i got lucky. Not to mention i dont have class until 12:00 and get out by 1:50. So today after waking up taking my sweet time, going on a ride i decided to go to class.
P8280011.JPG

Well i found my first class at Norlin Library. Pretty heinous building if you ask me. you can be the judge.
P8280013.JPG

Expecting to walk into a huge lecture hall for my english class i found myself here?
P8280014.JPG

After class it was time to head to my next class. However i got sidetracked on my way.
P8280012.JPG
Im sure ill be cussing like a pirate when the green in this picture is replaced by white but until then i think im pretty happy. On my way to my second class i found my tuesday and and thursday classroom.

Learning my way around

So today i woke up and headed to a small coffee shop on Pearl St. to meet none other than old Texas native Brian Kendall and his friend Randy.
P8240001.JPG
Brian gettin his fix
P8240002.JPG
Randy gettin his more x-treme fix

So After meeting up Brian and Randy took me on a little tour of what Boulder riding is all about.
P8240003.JPG
It was today that i found the myth to be true. Thats right I was a Witness to the "Big Big" warnings I was warned about by the professional masters rider himself. While I sometimes do it on accident, it might take some time to figure out the logic of "Big Big". The ride was awesome, easy pace which my legs were thankful for after yesterdays exploration up the steepest paved road in North America from what im told. Besides the awesome pavement, little traffic, seeing old and new friends and the ever present views the ride was average I'd say. I dont know if this boulder riding is all its cracked out to be...
P8240004.JPG
P8250007.JPG

Oh and check this out. The towns in and around Boulder supply water stops to everyone. What a waste of time. I mean I know I loved stopping at the gas station in Fredricksburg and getting hate stares.
P8250008.JPG

So after this ride Randy hooked us up at Snarfs. All i gots to say about that is that snarfs has some mean subs.
P8250009.JPG

So if this is what JHK and Nick do to get fast I think i might be able to go through with this living in Colorado thing, the only thing stopping me is the "W" word that Jason fears probably more than I do.

Mach Speed

Ok sorry to the few of you that read my site for the delayed update, the last couple of days still have my head spinning. So Monday was my last night in Austin. Knowing it was the last time i would hang out with many of my best friends for a long time. Since i spent Saturday missing group rides and riding by myself, i thought Sunday would be a day of redemption....lot o people. Well i definately went to the one place in Astin where when its 100 plus degrees there is always a massive amount of people...thats right Barton Springs!
P8200065.JPG
It was PACKED!

Next on the agenda was a nice dinner with some of my best friends and family. Mom, Dad, Andrea (my big sis),Eric, Sara and I went out to a pretty good mexican restaurant. The food was gooooooood.

Food Prior to Damage...it was short lived

P8200083.JPG
I put it out of its misery.

We had a blast and when it was time for a picture it was easy to have a real smile...

P8200072.JPG

After dinner it was only appropriate to throw a very small and tame shindig at mi casa.
P8200098.JPG
Packing early was a wise choice.

P8200099.JPG
Party Paul was his usual self.

P8200096.JPG
I almost feel worse for Sara since we're all leaveing her in Austin.

So the next morning it was time to fly. Me and my mom boarded up to head to Boulder, CO.
P8200103.JPG

Once we got to Boulder we went to registration and the other orientation stuff. It didn't really hit me until i pulled up in front of my dorm that I was really going to college, here in boulder....Awesome. I lucked out on my dorm. I got a corner room with two windows and plenty of space. One window looks out over the mountains, the other one over Boulder Creek and downtown. My roomate is non existent. no email no nothing.

So today I road for the first time in four days, i was itching to go out. So i left at 9:00 to go for a nice am. ride. I took a road that went up to Eldora Ski resort that a local showed me. I ended up taking a left on Montgomery Rd. It wasn't until after the 22% grades and climbing for an hour plus that i found out i had ridden an A class climb of the Boulder area, only six minutes from my dorm! SWEET!!! Today i registered for classes and my schedual it lookin pretty good. Only one 8 am class on thursdays and everything else i start at around 11:00 or 12:00 and get out no later than 1:50. Well im sure ill be riding more so i can post some better pics. Great job to all my friends that are racing in New Zealand!

Snakes on Crack

Well today has been a one of those days where things go from bad to great. I got up today to go on the local group ride (ATC). Well i couldnt find food for breakfast and ended up rushing to make something. I ended up making a chick pot pie and when i took it out it was HOT. so while i waited to let it cool down the group was closing in on my rondevou point. Well after i got 4 bites in i was TT'ing it out the door to try to make the ride. 3 or 4 minutes too late cost me.

My Group Ride...

However this crappy beginning to my day soon made a turn for the best. Today i was fortunate enough to seeone of the best materpieces of craftmanship ever created...
P8190056.JPG
Thats right Snakes on a Plane!

No doubt one of the funniest movies ever! it was great. Samuel L. J. sure brought himself to a new level for this box office hit. I wont spoil it for anyone but let me tell you its a must see, no sarcasm here. I havent heard an audience wait in anticipation for one line in all my movie outings. "I'm tired or these motha F'ing snake on this motha F'ing plane!"

I only have one more day here before i head off to my new home, so ill see what i can d on the update tomorrow.

Hurtin fo Certain

Well, yesterday was an exerience. I know i've raced in the heat more than enough days than i care to remember, however yesterday was brutal. I am still in heat shock. I did the crit yesterday and from the start until i quit my legs felt great, however my body was not in agreement. After fighting back vamit for 10 minutes i changed and had my share of hot dogs......mmmmmmmm. I once again was on the San Jose Blue Team led by non other by the king himself Wheeler. Of course it was only he and I on blue team yesterday and he got 2nd place points for us!!!!!......Him. Along with seeing so many old friends, I also got to meet the man who made the pace in the crit so damn high:
P8170046.JPG
Thats right Brad Huff Jr. Himself.

Thanks Matt for making the burgers and dawgs! P8170047.JPG

And again mad props to those that can manage the heat!

bear with me...

So everyone is just going to have to bear with me with this whole internet website thing. So far its been little things like getting things to one side or another, however i have the help of Megan........professional help.

Anyhow, since I've been back home I've mostly been hanging out with my friends. I did take one ride with Tyler at three O'Clock. Now while im fully unzipped, sweating the most ive sweated this whole year and whining non stop about how damn hot it is, tyler's telling me its a cool day compared to past days, not to mention hes telling me this with his jersey zipped up, under shirt and shoe covers! WTF! what happened to me? Well i give everyone that lives here and has continued to train huge props. I mean i know i would still be riding, but since ive been living Park City riding in the "hot" temps along with getting straight up spoiled, I have lost all relativity to riding in Tejas.

Well, today i will be taking my first tejas hard ride at the thursday night crit. I will most likely have good legs since there is air here, however it might take more days than i have to get used to having a hair dryer blowing down my throat.

I'll take some pictures tonight with my new camera. Hopefully they can do my whining a little justice.
